Numerous Residential Properties for Jim the Builder

MBC has worked closely with Jim the Builder over many years at numerous residential construction sites. MBC are usually engaged during the planning stage, to sytematically sample materials based on the scope of work, also know as a refurbishment survey. This approach means that asbestos containing materials are identified well in advance, ensuring they are budgeted for and time is allowed for in the construction programme.

Conducting a refurbishment survey helps to ensure that JTB are meeting the requirements of the asbestos regulations and are keeping their staff, sub-contractors and clients safe. Refurbishment surveys are intrusive, examining all materials that are to be disturbed. This has led to the discovery of not just common materials, that are visible, but also hidden and unexpected materials,

  • We’ve worked with Mark and the MBC team for several years now. They remove asbestos and are very good at surveying and environmental control works for building sites. Their knowledge makes life easy for us that’s for sure. They’re professional and accommodating.

  • We had asbestos contamination as a result of defective EQC repairs. It was due to failure to perform a controlled removal from our roofing cavities and stippled ceilings. It got everywhere and made the place more hazardous than it had been. We had a claim against EQC and we engaged Mark at MBC to test, identify and quantify the contamination and provide scientific evidence of its cause and effect. Mark’s expert witness evidence was really key to the negotiation process and I think they found him credible and reasonable. We had a confidential settlement agreed shortly after.
